Baby Shawls

As well as my knitting I also make baby shawls.
This shawl is handmade by me using 613 individually made daisies which are then sewn together. It measures approximately 44 inches square. The pattern shown is repeated in each of the four quadrants and the picture shows the finished shawl folded into four so you can see a quarter of it.
I can also make these with a central pattern alone or with four smaller patterns at the corners.

The shawl is made from double knitting acrylic wool and is washable either by hand or on a gentle cycle in the washing machine.
I can also make these shawls in plain lemon, pink, pale blue, pale green or lilac and also make then in plain white with a simple pattern in a contrasting colour. I can also source any other colours if required. I have been known to make them in black and purple for a goth baby about town!
The baby shawls take me about six weeks to complete as I make them to order and they cost £20 plus £6 postage by First Class Recorded Delivery within the UK. Cost of postage outside the UK would, of course, be higher.
If you would like to purchase a shawl just leave me a note and I will get back to you to sort out details.
I have made smaller ones as pram blankets and cot blankets and have even made smaller brightly coloured ones as pet blankets.
If there is anything you would like to know do drop me a line.

CHRISTMAS BABY HAT

I have just finished knitting a Christmas version of my baby hat.

I thought it looked quite sweet when I had finished - I just hope that my potential customers agree with me!

The cost is the same as any of the other hats so it won't be more expensive!

BABY HATS

The most popular item that I knit is baby hats and the design that gets requested most is the helmet which, when I was younger was just for little boys, but now seems to be unisex.

I use acrylic baby yarn which is machine washable. I have listed below the colours that I usually use to knit my hats although any colour can be sourced but be aware unusual colours can sometimes cost more depending on how specific the colour has to be..

I knit them in 4 ply yarn which makes a small size (shown above) for new born babies in white, lemon, pale blue, pink, mint green, lilac and cream.

I also knit them in double knitting making a slightly larger hat for a baby aged from birth to three months old. I knit these in white, lemon, pale blue, cream, blue fleck, mint green, lilac and pink.

The hats cost £2.00 each with matching mittens for an extra 50p. First Class postage within the UK is £1.00.

The item are wrapped in tissue paper and placed inside a padded envelope for mailing.

I LOVE TO KNIT!

Well, as this is a new blog, I thought I had better tell you a little bit about me and my knitting.

I began knitting seriously when I was eleven years old and I knitted a little cardigan for my new baby sister and I have never stopped - I am 56 now!

Over the years I have knitted all sorts of things from an Aran coat to a football scarf and a jumper with the Robertson's Golly on the front to a set of clothes for a teddy bear! The only thing that I find really difficult to knit is Fair Isle as my knitting is fairly tight and the yarn would at the back of the work pulls it out of shape.

As you can see I have even knitted coats for my friends' chickens
